Web 2.0 Slam - 'Performing' Innovative Practice

Home - Web 2.0 Slam 07

This Wiki publishes the outcomes of a workshop at ALT-C 2007 at University of Nottingham.
We all had a great time at this workshop, even though it was at 9 a.m. the morning after the Comedy night out, located in a remote venue up a long hill. Thanks to the participants who turned up and made the event a success with their creativity and enthusiasm.

We started off with the ubiquitous Mike Wesch video

Check out the slide show: Josie Fraser gave us a whirlwind tour of Web 2.0 services and applications. Frances and Helen then gave some examples from their practice.

On to the Slams:

Helen gave us a video montage of images and quotes relating to Web 2.0; Frances told us a morality tale of Web 2.0; and Josie explained Social Search by finding a date for a member of the audience.

Over to the audience.

They were given 5 minutes to pick a title and 20 minutes to create their Slams. Here is the organised chaos that signified creativity in operation.

Now see the slams

Voting methodology: everyone was given 50p, 20p, 10p to vote on 'best slams' - see winnings above. The clear winners were Sabine, Graham and Nicola with their satirical mime version of the Machine in Us/ing Us - Web 2.0 is Mi(m)ne

And here is a picture of Sabine, delighted to be accepting a top quality prize on behalf of her team:

A bunch of people blogged the session too - thanks for all your wonderful comments!
